Wow, a lot has happened since we last blogged. Celeste took her first steps on February 3 (Mama's birthday) and Emilie took her first steps on March 2. It wasn't long (mid-March) before we both wanted to walk ALL THE TIME!!
This is what we were doing, pre-walking in the last couple of months!
Celeste: I liked to push my sister on our little car. This is from February:
 |
We had a good thing going: I pushed Emilie and she liked to ride!
Pretty soon Emilie wanted to push, too, though, so we had to learn about taking turns. |
 |
Sometimes we would ride together, but it's not exactly easy to push that way!
Mama or Papa would help us out. |
Mama and Papa took us to explore the city (in February). We went to La Jolla, where we would have liked to crawl around but Mama said no. Instead, we enjoyed the views from the safety of our parents' arms:
Okay, we are experiencing some difficulties posting more pictures, so let's tell you what we've been up to! Pictures to follow another time.
Celeste: My speech has really taken off! I can say a lot of words now. Doggie (da-dee), duckie (da-dee), bird (burr), turtle (ta-to), crab (bap), bath (bap-fuh), spoon (boo), all done (a-duh), avion (awuh), vache (French for cow- shh), doudou (this is a "lovey" in French- "do do"), belly button (baby), baby, caca (ta ta), Mama, Papa, Emilie (May May), Omi (O), bowl (bow), pig (pih), nose (no-no), no (no-no), balloon (boo), pasta (ta-ta), kitty (ti-ti), boo, bah (as in that's yucky, BAH!), apple (pap-ul), ball, tscha (ta) (this is my word for sneeze) and Picoti (puh-tee puh-tee)... I think there are more, but I can't think of them right now. I learn new words every day.
I can sign "milk" and "all done" and I'm learning the one for "water" and we are trying some other ones, too. I also point a lot. I get really excited when I see a bird and I say "burr! burr! burr!" I like to poke Mama's belly button and say "baby." This is also how I say baby. Mama says there is no baby in her belly, but that's how I like to say belly button. I definitely understand a lot more than I can say. If Mama asks me to get a particular book, I can usually find it.
Both Emilie and I love to read books. We have some favorites that are about doggies, and there is a funny one about a sneezing lamb named Tcha. Tcha is also the sound the lamb makes when he sneezes, so every time someone sneezes, I laugh and say "Tcha!" I am really good at giving hugs. I give my stuffed animals and my doudou (French word for a lovey) hugs a lot. I also give Mama and Papa hugs. I am a hugger! I do not like to hold hands when I'm out, though. I like to be free to explore the world restraint-free. I definitely protest if you try to hold me back! I like to eat what Mama and Papa are eating and drinking. For some reason, they won't always share their drinks with me! Hmmm, why can't I have wine?! I am a big girl!
Speaking of being a big girl now, I weigh 21 lbs and I'm 31.5 inches tall. My hair is getting curly on the sides and it's getting thicker, too. I have 7 teeth. My teeth are taking their time, but that's okay because honestly, getting teeth in kinda bites. Ha ha!
Emilie: I am a very focused baby. I like to really inspect how things work and I can concentrate on something for a long time. I really enjoy reading books, both by myself and with Mama. If Mama is not reading fast enough, I will turn the pages for her. I started walking after Celeste did, but it's just because I wanted to be really good at it when I started! That's how I am with talking, too. So far I can say Mama and Papa perfectly. I also say ball (ba), doggie and duckie (da-dee), caca (ta ta), and avion (a-wuh). One day I am just going to come out with full sentences. I like to sing and I sometimes make up stories when I am reading. I talk more and more and I am repeating a lot of sounds Mama and Papa make. I recently learned to say "la la la!" hee hee! It makes my tongue tickle so I laugh!
I am getting my molars right now. I have 2 poking through on top and one that is coming up on the bottom. It's a big, swollen bump right now and sometimes I don't feel like eating much because of those teeth. When that one finally comes in, I will have 11 teeth.
I started out 1.5 lbs and an inch smaller than my sister, but now I am 3/4 in taller (32 1/4 in) and 22 lbs (about half a pound heavier). And guess what- if I am 32 inches, that makes me HALF of Mama's height! Mama is very shocked by this statistic. I guess Mama is just short and maybe Celeste and I will take after Papa in the height department! Celeste and I are in the 75th- 90th percentiles for height. We are definitely looking less like babies and more like kids now that we are walking and standing so tall.
Okay, we are going to put Papa on task to resolve the picture-posting problem so you can see more of our fun activities over the past couple of months. See you soon!
