Food and Hair: April 2011

April was one of those busy months, with Easter, some playgroups, birthday parties, etc... But we also continued to enjoy our day-to-day activites.
For example, we really enjoy breakfast and food in general.
Here are some pictures of us having breakfast at home:
Emilie enjoying her spaghetti

slurrrrpppp!

Céleste: I am more into waffles... yum!
At lunch, we also like to be messy...
Emilie: let me taste this... Mmmm... ok next time add more cream and cook it 25 seconds less

Céleste: why Mama said I can not repaint the walls green?
Let me put my fingers in that bowl!
We also love to go out for breaksfast on week-ends...
and drink the half & half with a spoon from the serving cup

or even better get the foam from Papa's cappuccino!

April was also an exciting month for Mama, because we have not had hair long enough that she can start playing with it... She finally bought some accessories for babies with our amount of hair awesomeness.  We think she has been waiting for this for months (years even)!
Céleste: here is the Mama's first try at decorating my hair!

Céleste: don't complain, Emilie...
You don't have to wear these little bows on the back of your head!
Emilie: Oh yes I do!  Mama got enough bows for both of us!!

Luckily we have our cousin Nick who always has good taste and let us to wear his hat! Thanks Nick!

It was in March

We know.. this is a while back... but we are keeping ourselves so busy that we don't really have time to update our blogs. Anyway, here is what happened... in pictures

Emilie: let's start with my teeth... getting more and more!
Céleste... well, that's boring. Instead, let's show our new dresses... In March the sun was out, so we started to wear dresses again:

-Céleste: what about this funny dress? I found it in the box called "Halloween"

We think Papa and Mama confused March with July... so they decided to bring us to the beach. We had a blast, but luckily they made sure we had our layers on.

- Emilie: my sister loves playing with the sand, but she has not figured out yet that it's better to get the sand OUT of the wagon, not IN!
Of course, we continue to be silly, and to tease each other:
Emilie: not sure why but Céleste does not seem to like when I pick her up from her neck
This little piggy goes to the market
this little piggy stays home
the little piggy has roast beef
Ma! More Piggggie!
peekaboo!

In March, Céleste really got into cleaning too!
Papa says that in America, a lot of things are bigger than in France...
Well, we don't really remember our trip to France when we were 6 months old, but we hope they have those twin carts for when we will be in France in May!
The BIG thing for us in March was that we started walking full-time!  Céleste started walking for the first time on February 3 and Emilie on March 2, but we only walked occasionally, and mostly just a few steps.  One day in mid-March, we had some friends over who were walking all over our house.  Well, we thought if there were some other little people walking all over the house (who were going much faster than we were), we could do it, too!  From that day on, we've been walking non-stop.
That's it... It was a summary of the month of March.
Follow-us! The next blog story about April is coming soon

Catching Up: Part 2

Wow, we've got a lot of catching up to do!  Here are some more from February!
In February, it was of course the month of love... Valentine's day, as well as both Mama and Papa's birthdays... So we decided to wear the perfect outfits for the occasions...

Céleste: I like the season of hearts
Emilie: yes, me too... so much fun!
OMG... look a cupid angel! Yikes: Papa and Mama are probably making out again!
Today is the actual 2011 Valentine's day! So funny!
Loving our Mama at the end of February.
We'll be back soon with more news and more pictures!  :o)

Catching Up: Part 1

Wow, a lot has happened since we last blogged.  Celeste took her first steps on February 3 (Mama's birthday) and Emilie took her first steps on March 2.  It wasn't long (mid-March) before we both wanted to walk ALL THE TIME!!

This is what we were doing, pre-walking in the last couple of months!
Celeste: I liked to push my sister on our little car.  This is from February:

We had a good thing going: I pushed Emilie and she liked to ride!
Pretty soon Emilie wanted to push, too, though, so we had to learn about taking turns.

Sometimes we would ride together, but it's not exactly easy to push that way!
Mama or Papa would help us out.
Mama and Papa took us to explore the city (in February).  We went to La Jolla, where we would have liked to crawl around but Mama said no.  Instead, we enjoyed the views from the safety of our parents' arms:

Okay, we are experiencing some difficulties posting more pictures, so let's tell you what we've been up to!  Pictures to follow another time.

Celeste: My speech has really taken off!  I can say a lot of words now.  Doggie (da-dee), duckie (da-dee), bird (burr), turtle (ta-to), crab (bap), bath (bap-fuh), spoon (boo), all done (a-duh), avion (awuh), vache (French for cow- shh), doudou (this is a "lovey" in French- "do do"), belly button (baby), baby, caca (ta ta), Mama, Papa, Emilie (May May), Omi (O), bowl (bow), pig (pih), nose (no-no), no (no-no), balloon (boo), pasta (ta-ta), kitty (ti-ti), boo, bah (as in that's yucky, BAH!), apple (pap-ul), ball, tscha (ta) (this is my word for sneeze) and Picoti (puh-tee puh-tee)... I think there are more, but I can't think of them right now.  I learn new words every day.
I can sign "milk" and "all done" and I'm learning the one for "water" and we are trying some other ones, too.  I also point a lot.  I get really excited when I see a bird and I say "burr!  burr!  burr!"  I like to poke Mama's belly button and say "baby."  This is also how I say baby.  Mama says there is no baby in her belly, but that's how I like to say belly button.  I definitely understand a lot more than I can say.  If Mama asks me to get a particular book, I can usually find it.
Both Emilie and I love to read books.  We have some favorites that are about doggies, and there is a funny one about a sneezing lamb named Tcha.  Tcha is also the sound the lamb makes when he sneezes, so every time someone sneezes, I laugh and say "Tcha!"  I am really good at giving hugs.  I give my stuffed animals and my doudou (French word for a lovey) hugs a lot.  I also give Mama and Papa hugs.  I am a hugger!  I do not like to hold hands when I'm out, though.  I like to be free to explore the world restraint-free.  I definitely protest if you try to hold me back!  I like to eat what Mama and Papa are eating and drinking.  For some reason, they won't always share their drinks with me!  Hmmm, why can't I have wine?!  I am a big girl!
Speaking of being a big girl now, I weigh 21 lbs and I'm 31.5 inches tall.  My hair is getting curly on the sides and it's getting thicker, too.  I have 7 teeth.  My teeth are taking their time, but that's okay because honestly, getting teeth in kinda bites.  Ha ha!

Emilie: I am a very focused baby.  I like to really inspect how things work and I can concentrate on something for a long time.  I really enjoy reading books, both by myself and with Mama.  If Mama is not reading fast enough, I will turn the pages for her.  I started walking after Celeste did, but it's just because I wanted to be really good at it when I started!  That's how I am with talking, too.  So far I can say Mama and Papa perfectly.  I also say ball (ba), doggie and duckie (da-dee), caca (ta ta), and avion (a-wuh).  One day I am just going to come out with full sentences.  I like to sing and I sometimes make up stories when I am reading.  I talk more and more and I am repeating a lot of sounds Mama and Papa make.  I recently learned to say "la la la!"  hee hee!  It makes my tongue tickle so I laugh!
I am getting my molars right now.  I have 2 poking through on top and one that is coming up on the bottom.  It's a big, swollen bump right now and sometimes I don't feel like eating much because of those teeth.  When that one finally comes in, I will have 11 teeth.
I started out 1.5 lbs and an inch smaller than my sister, but now I am 3/4 in taller (32 1/4 in) and 22 lbs (about half a pound heavier).  And guess what- if I am 32 inches, that makes me HALF of Mama's height!  Mama is very shocked by this statistic.   I guess Mama is just short and maybe Celeste and I will take after Papa in the height department!  Celeste and I are in the 75th- 90th percentiles for height.  We are definitely looking less like babies and more like kids now that we are walking and standing so tall.

Okay, we are going to put Papa on task to resolve the picture-posting problem so you can see more of our fun activities over the past couple of months.  See you soon!

America's Sweethearts

Remember those shirts we had that both said "I'm the Favorite?"  Well, now we have shirts that say "America's Sweetheart."  Mama and Papa say we are their Sweethearts. We put them on in honor of Valentine's Day last month!

Here is some photographic evidence of our sweetness.

Sweet baby snuggles!

Rocking in our chair is so much fun!

Whee!!

Higher!  Higher!

More tickles!
Some of the sweet things we do?
Celeste: I love to snuggle with Mama all the time. If Mama is around, I want to be sitting on her lap, as close as I can be!
When Papa comes home from work, I crawl to the door to greet him as fast as my hands and knees will take me! When Mama uses the phone, I say "Papa" because I love to call him on the phone!

Emilie: When Mama asks me for a hug now, I wrap my arms around her neck and lay my head down on her chest. When I hear Papa's voice on the phone or see him on the video chat, I smile BIG. When they ask me "Say 'Papa" I say "MAMA!" hee hee

The other sweet thing we do?  Wake Mama up every night for some extra nighttime cuddles.  Awww... baby love!  What do you mean, Mama, you want us to sleep through the night?  That's not in our contract.

Having A Ball

Last month we went to this really fun indoor playground for our friend Emmabelle's birthday.  Here are some shots from the party:

Céleste: This activity table is really fun.

I think if I try hard enough, I can even climb on it!

Emilie: Isn't it naptime, Papa?

Céleste: Would you like to play with THIS ball?

Party hats and fun snacks.  Good reasons to miss nap!

Here we are at the kids' table.  Very compliant with our hats that day.

We LOVED the bubbles.

Emilie: There's a bubble on my head!

Céleste: Wow, more and more bubbles!
We wish every day were a party day!
p.s. Did you see that our hair is finally long enough for little bows?  Mama is very excited about this.
