In the middle of the month of December, Mama and Papa started to decorate the house... It was for something that grown-ups call "Christmas" or "Noël." First there was Halloween and all the funny stuff around, and how there's this holiday to try to understand. At least this time we didn't have to put on any funny outfits! It's a very odd event that everyone celebrates. For instance, Mama painted our hands white at the playgroup and then put them on a blue ball that you hang in a tree. Grown-ups have very weird customs!
here is one of the ornaments we made!
Mama and Papa did not want us to touch the big tree with all the sparkling objects and lights. I don't know why they put it up too high for us to reach. This was very frustrating and we did our best to touch other people's trees when we were visiting their homes. What's the point of creating such a beautiful decoration when we can't touch it?! We don't get Christmas...
Lucklily, we had our own little tree
| Céleste: let's see if I can get it down! |
| Hmmm... what is that thing? |
| probably some type of toy... I should pull on it |
| let me look at this more closely... maybe it's edible? |
| Emilie: At Christmas you also go shopping |
| Celeste: I want this dog! |
We also learned that there is an old guy called "Santa Claus" or "Père Noël" and he travels on a sleigh... so we asked Papa to show us how it feels:
Wahooo! here we come!
We want to ride a sleigh when we grow up! |
We got so excited by the story of a funny guy in a sleigh that we wanted to meet him. So Papa drove us to his work. He said that he would be there for us. So we met the famous old guy...and it was not what we expected! First he had some type of furry stuffed animal on his head, but it did not look like an animal and it was even not making any noise and we couldn't touch it. Also, he had not shaved for years. What's up with that? Mama and Papa tried to convince us that the guy was alright, but this is how we felt as soon as they plopped us into his lap:
| Santa said, "That's the most fun I've had all day!" |
Maybe we don't want to be Santa when we grow up, after all!
We took a lot of pictures in our Christmas outfits...

On Christmas Eve, we went to Omi's house.
| Emilie: my dinner was quite yummy... thanks for asking. |
| Celeste: I think my doggy tastes better than this duckie we were served for dinner! |
After dinner, we were all looking at the tree again. This time there were real candles on it...
Again we were not allowed to touch it!
We are telling you: this Christmas thing is getting even more strange. |
Anyway, after a nice night, when we woke up we found some new toys in the house... Mama explained that Santa Claus stopped by and left them for us... Maybe he is not that mean after all!
| Our new activity table to make even more noise in the house |
| A little puzzle... how to get the blue ball out? |
| Emilie: let me show you... you do this, and then that...hm, not working! |
| We did a webcam with Bon-Papa, Bonne-Maman and my cousins in France. Joyeux Noël! |
We spent the rest of Christmas day at Jackie & Charles' house. That was a lot of fun!
| Emilie: here I am showing everyone that I can stand on my own |
| Emilie: Wow, that's a big gift. I'll ask my sister to help me open it. |
| Céleste: Why open the gift when you can sit on it? What a pretty chair this is! |
We played hide-and-seek, especially in the tree. It's fun there with all the lights...
| Peek-a-boo! |
Also Uncle Tim taught us how to make faces...
| Emilie: how about this one? |
| Céleste: or this one? |
What a fun day! Especially after those last few days spending time with the family, playing funny games and getting presents, we changed our mind about this funny holiday: we love Christmas!!
Santa: See you next year!
