Planes, trains and automobiles! We flew over the Atlantic and we drove all over northern France, and now it was time for the TGV: France's high-speed train! We went from Papa's parents to Strasbourg (on the border with Germany) in barely 4 hours at 200mph! Wow!
We stayed in a bed and breakfast in the Alsace wine region. The scenery was very pretty. This is the area in France where they have Pinot gris, Riesling, Gewurztraminer, etc...but we did not get to taste any! Mean parents!
We visited Strasbourg with Papa's cousin Nathalie who lives there. It was the first time we met her but it seemed that we knew each other for a long time.
Emilie: I wish my hair could be as long as Nathalie's... Why do I have to wait so long?

We also visited some medieval villages in the wine country. They have funny names there. Our bed and breakfast was in Itterswiller, and we went to Ribeauvillé, Riquewihr, Eguisheim, Voegtlinshoffen...
Céleste: after a while I was too tired. It was so hot that day. So I took a little nap while Papa was still taking pictures.
And after a long day like this, what is not better than a nice bath in the luxurious huge bathtub at our bed & breakfast !? It was so much fun: splish splash!!
Since we were in the East of France, Papa took us to Nancy, the city were he went to university. We saw the beautiful "Place Stanislas".
We also went to see some "art nouveau" architecture since it's one of the 3 only cities in the world (with Paris and New York) who had schools to teach that art style between 1900 and 1914.
As you can see in the pictures below, we found that a little boring to tell you the truth... But shhh don't tell Papa as he seems to really like that style...
After all those visits, then we drove to Germany to Munich to visit Mama's aunt... Yes, Mama and Papa really wanted to move us around!! We only stayed 4 days but one German word we still remember is "Stau!"- that means traffic jam! There were tons of those on the highway, and it took us more than 7 hours to get there! Stau! Stau! Stau! If we lived there, that might be our first word. "Shhh-tao." Fun to say. Not fun to be in!
But it was so nice to meet the family there! Sepp was making jokes all the time (Emilie: but I did not get that one when he took my hand and Papa neither... must be the Bavarian humor), Ingeborg was always sweet and smiling at us.
Emilie: this is Michi in the picture below, Mama's cousin. I was asking him if he was ready to have babies and how many because we need other playmates when we come to visit them...I'm not sure he speaks Baby since this was his answer:
Céleste: Really? You forgot to tell me that! Me, I was smitten with that pretty awesome guy with the green jacket... I wish he was 30 years younger!... But it looks like Omi wishes he was 20 years older... ;o)
It was nice to see Omi and Opa there too. We had a lot of good attention during all this time.
Céleste: time to pack! I really wanted to ride in the suitcase, but Papa and Mama said no. Boo! Emilie: a nice manicure and I was ready to go back to France. Auf Wiedersehen, rainy Germany!
So incredibly cute!!!
